Salt-Away is a water-based, non-hazardous, biodegradable solution and contains properties that dissolve, release and remove salt crystals from any surface. Water alone does not remove all the salt from a surface. Use of Salt-Away does not correct past damage but will work to protect against salt corrosion and reduces costly repairs caused by salt. Salt-Away breaks apart and removes salt accumulation with repeated use.

Salt-Away can safely be used on all metals, fiberglass, paint, rubber, plastic, chrome, glass, concrete, brick or any surface exposed to salt. Salt-Away, mixed with water, washes away the salt then leaves a protective film on surfaces until surfaces are again exposed to water or salt. Special high-performing corrosion inhibitors in the product help protect metals from corroding if not rinsed off.

 

Salt-Away will not strip wax or cause streaks or spots. It is easy to apply by using pressure or power washers, Salt-Away's special Mixing Unit, the ready-to-use spray bottles for smaller jobs, and by immersing items into a mixture of Salt-Away and water.

SALT-AWAY CONCENTRATE FORMULA

Special Secret Blend

​

  • Salt-Away is a carefully selected blend of ingredients specifically chosen to provide the optimum concentration of well-known cleaning materials and surface-active agents, to provide salt removal from a wide variety of surfaces.

  • There are no hydrocarbon solvents in the formula and the cleaning action is designed not to remove lubricating products.

  • Included in Salt-Away are rinse aids and liquid corrosion inhibitors.

  • The constituents in Salt-Away that compose the formula are determined to be non-toxic, non-hazardous, and biodegradable according to the guidelines of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Salt-Away Products, Inc. is in compliance with the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) which states that manufacturers of chemicals must report on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) any hazardous substance in the product. Since none of the constituents in Salt-Away are hazardous, none of the substances are listed. The purpose of the MSDS is not to report a formula of any product, contrary to a popular assumption of some members of the public.

Salt Removing Agent

​

  • Salt-Away’s salt removing agent completely removes fresh salt and breaks apart salt accumulation.

  • Its high, dense foaming action assists as an indicator to see where Salt-Away has been applied, and it also ‘clings’ to surfaces to slowly soak through the layers of salt.

  • As the salt dissolves into the Salt-Away salt removing agent, the crystals are lifted from the surface.

  • In areas where salt is trapped, the water evaporates from the solution and the salt crystals are encapsulated in the residue. The liquid corrosion inhibitor in the residue will not allow the salt crystals to attack the surface.

  • If Salt-Away is rinsed off the surface, the salt crystals are lifted off the surface and washed away.

  • Salt-Away’s salt removing agent, which causes the foam, is non-hazardous.

  • This foam dissipates within a few minutes.

  • We are very concerned about environmental conditions, and we do not want our customers to perceive that any element of our product is hazardous.

  • Further, we want our customers to keep a copy of our Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) on file. This document verifies that Salt-Away is not hazardous and is helpful to agencies who may not be familiar with our products.

 

Rinse Aid

​

  • Salt-Away’s advanced formula contains a popular rinse aid.

  • This rinse aid performs while fresh water is being applied to rinse off equipment.

  • While the fresh water is mixing with the Salt-Away solution, the rinse aid causes the mixture to ‘sheet off’ the surfaces, and keeps hard minerals in the rinse water from spotting the equipment.

 

Liquid and Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors

  • The ingredient second highest in percentage content is Salt-Away’s corrosion inhibitor.

  • Tested for 18 months, this corrosion inhibitor works in liquid solutions.

  • It is 100% non-hazardous and is a high-performance inhibitor which saves your equipment from rusting and corroding when Salt-Away is used on a regular basis.

  • With this deep, rich, blue color, it is very easy to see the strength of Salt-Away while being diluted.

  • Shows concentration of product.

 

Product Concentration

​

  • Salt-Away is extremely concentrated.

  • The Salt-Away Mixing Unit was used in the vast majority of the testing performed in the development of Salt-Away.

  • Salt-Away is manufactured to be dispensed from the Mixing Unit at a ratio of 512 parts water to 1 part Salt-Away since the solution is being applied with pressure from the water hose.

  • Add 1-2 ounces (30 - 60 ml) of Salt-Away Concentrate to each gallon (3.79 L) of water when immersing a salt-corroded part into a solution of Salt-Away and water.

  • Most of our testing data show problems of salt accumulation are solved by using Salt-Away at the same dilution ratio referenced above, and repeating the application on a regular basis.

  • We recommend our Salt Accumulation Removal Program for accumulation problems.
